The Next Hundred desk. Written from the city's own pages and the ballot; dates change, and we fix them when they do. When a neighbor takes this desk, their name goes here.
Right now, Colorado Avenue. Four lanes have been three from Limit to 30th since June, for up to a year. Watch the lanes. Your move: fill out the city survey after you've driven it, biked it, or crossed it with a stroller. The avenue went on a diet and nobody asked it.
Oct 21 and Oct 26. The community center's neighbor group meets Wednesday the 21st at 4 p.m.; it helps steer what the center at 1628 W Bijou becomes. Monday the 26th, 5:30 p.m.: the 2027 budget's public hearing at 107 N Nevada Ave. Anyone can speak; the council calendar lists the work sessions before it. Your move: pick one and go. The budget reads better with you.
Nov 3. Ballots are due by 7 p.m. County 1A would keep the public-safety sales tax going through 2037. D11's 4A is a $775 million school bond, and Coronado is on the list. Your move: vote, and use a drop box if the mail feels slow. There's one at 3141 W Colorado Ave. Seven o'clock does not negotiate.
December. The Christkindlmarket comes back to Bancroft Park, bigger. Bancroft is the pupil of the eye, so a bigger market could mean a fuller avenue and fewer spots out front. Your move: go, and walk. The car can stay home.
April 6, 2027. The city election: mayor and three at-large council seats. Your move: register or check your registration, and ask every candidate what they would do about the avenue. The avenue will hear about it.
April 13. Council hears the appeal on Project Taurus, the 50-megawatt data center proposed at the old Intel plant next to the homes in Chelsea Glen. The Planning Commission approved it 6 to 2 in July with a power cap and noise monitoring; council wants a noise study first, and the hearing falls a week after you vote (Colorado Politics). The developer says it is weighing the partnership, so the date could still move. Your move: read the noise study when it exists, and show up. Read quietly.
April to fall 2027. A roundabout replaces the four-way stop at 31st and Fontanero by Howbert Elementary, on the western gateway to the red rocks. Parents asked about the school crossing, and the city says it will work with the school. Your move: if you walk kids there, ask the school what they've been told. Four stops become one circle.
Around June 2027. The lane test's year ends, give or take. Nothing we've found says what comes after. Your move: whatever you think of the test, say so before it ends. A year is long enough for an opinion.
