Old Colorado City DDA: what is on paper

The Record desk. Written from the city's own pages and the news; the Aug 25 minutes are still to be read. When a neighbor takes this desk, their name goes here.

If you missed the council meeting last month, here is the entry.

A downtown development authority, a DDA, is a small district set up by a vote. It is supposed to get its own pot of money to spend on one downtown. In 2024, Old Colorado City voters created one for the avenue. It never got its funding. It was created by a vote and ended by a vote, and the money never turned up in between.

On Sept 22, City Council voted 5 to 4 to dissolve it. That's ordinance 26-48. The meeting record has the roll call. That's on paper.

The Gazette reported the first vote, on Aug 25, as the same 5 to 4. That's reported.

On Oct 2, KKTV reported that the DDA is weighing legal action, because the ordinance skipped the mayor's desk. That's reported too.

That is the whole ledger so far. Here is what we don't know:

Some of those answers are in a room on a Tuesday morning. You can be in it.

City Council meets the second and fourth Tuesdays at 9 a.m., 107 N Nevada Ave, and you can watch from home. You don't have to say a word. Take the one-page sheet, write down what happens, and your name goes on it. The Oct 13 meeting is the next one.

If you were at the Aug 25 meeting, or you have the minutes, send them over. Tell me what I got wrong.
