The Weekend Radar desk. Every line checked against the organizer's own page. When a neighbor takes this desk, their name goes here.
Two weekends, three picks, and I've already parked for all of them. Read this, then go.
Go to the farmers market. Saturday, October 17, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bancroft Park, 24th and Colorado. It's the last Saturday of the season, with 80-some vendors, and there is no next Saturday. Go early, because the best of anything goes first. Parking: don't circle the park hoping. Take a side street and walk the last bit.
Saturday, October 24 is two things at once. Pick one.
First, the coffin races. The Emma Crawford Coffin Races run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Manitou Springs. Parking: Manitou Avenue closes at 9, so get there before the road shuts and the crowd fills in, and plan to walk in.
Second, the pumpkins. Pumpkins in the Park is noon to 6 p.m. on the avenue, free, with a pumpkin patch, painting, costume and carving contests, the ZOOmobile, live music and a beer garden. Parking: the avenue's diagonal spots fill on a festival Saturday, so take a side street and walk in.
Don't try to do both in one afternoon. Choose, then start the day with it.
The things that are always there. If the festivals are not your speed, or you just need a Thursday: trivia at OCC Brewing every Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m. Storytime at the OCC Library every Friday, 10:30 a.m. Brunch Jam Band at Mother Muff's every Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Free bingo on the 21st, Trunk or Treat on the 25th, Trick or Treat Street on the 31st and First Friday ArtWalk on November 6 are all on the full list, with times. That list lives at westsidewherewithal.com, and it's also the one-sheet on the counters around the avenue.
Got something happening that we missed? Send it to hello@westsidewherewithal.com, or text 719-201-5462. We'll check it against your own page and put it in.
See you Saturday. I'll be the one who parked early.
